About Me

I’m an Experience Design Strategist, entrepreneur, educator, and speaker born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

What I care about.

Inclusive Design

Designing for diversity and inclusion is at the core of what I do. I'm passionate about building innovative products by leading teams that implement Inclusive Design practices and processes at scale.

Design Strategy

Leveraging my background in business through my entrepreneurial experiences, my sweet spot as a product strategist is at the intersection of business and design.

Design Process

From creating team-specific processes to implementing new processes at scale to leading teams through the design process, my experience navigating process is what makes focusing on Inclusive Design and Design Strategy possible.

How I got started.

Human-Computer Interaction

I have a degree in Human-Computer Interaction where the focus of my studies and thesis was accessible technology.

Frontend Development & User Interface Design

After taking a JavaScript class in high school (where I learned zero JS), I fell in love with building websites. That led me to my first job in tech as a Frontend Developer. After rediscovering my love for design, I then transitioned to a User Interface Design role. Both of these experiences were core to my UX Design practice.

Entreprenuership

In 2016, I founded Rita Creative, a small design agency focusing on supporting creative initiatives led by women and people of color. This experience has taught me not only about business, but also about leadership, marketing, and problem-solving.

What inspired/s me.

Mismatches for Immigrant Parents

Growing up, I spent a lot of time helping my parents navigate the digital space, mainly due to language barriers. Specifically, city products and services that were necessary to use for things like signing my siblings and I up for school amongst other reasons. These experiences planted seeds in me that would later blossom into a passion: creating more accessible public products and services that are available to all.

Creative Problem Solving

Before I called myself a designer, I considered myself a creative. I've always been passionate about leveraging creativity to solve problems. This is a mindset that I carry with me to this day.

Brooklyn

Shoutout to the Borough that raised me. From its diversity to its creativity to its toughness, as grandiose as it may seem, Brooklyn molded me into the person I am today. As a result, I'm spreading love every day.
